U12 & U14 Piche Invitational & Tristate Championships

Hi everyone,

Brian Rose, the Western Mass representative for Tri-states updated me this morning on the selection process for Piche and Tristate Championships. Contact me or the other coaches if you have any questions.

U12 Tristate Championships

All racers are invited to SL @ Southington and GS @ Sundown on 3/5 and 3/6 respectively.

U14 Tristate Championships

Western Mass gets 66 spots total. 38 boys and 28 girls.

Out of each of our 4 races, individual runs #1 and #2 AND combined times are considered based on place points. If you are #1 for the 1st run, you get 1 point. If you are #3 for the 2nd run, you get 3 points. If combined you are #2, you get 2 points.

Each racer will count their best 5 finishes (place points), including both SL and GS, and the top # of racers will qualify for Tristate Championships @ Blandford for SL and @ Berkshire East for GS on 3/5 and 3/6 respectively.

Piche
For the 1st time there will be a Piche GS Qualifier held at Wachusett on 2/27/16. Western Mass can send the top 60 total U12 & U14 boys AND girls to this qualifier. The end of season standings will determine which 13-U14 Boys, 13-U14 Girls, 17-U12 Boys, 17-U12 Girls will go to Wachusett. This will include Western Mass Tri-state, Eastern Mass Tri-state, Eastern Mass Buddy Werner, and Interclub racers for a total of 240 racers.
At Wachusett, the top 10-U12 boys, 10-U12 girls, 8-U14 boys and 8-U14 girls will move on to Piche @ Gunstock, NH from March 9-13th (March 9 & 10 are additional/optional training days).

***Any U14 athlete who qualifies for BOTH Piche and U14 Eastern Championships @ Sunday River will relinquish their Piche slot to the next alternate regardless of league affiliation.***
