Berkshire East Interclub Race Postponed

The Berkshire East Interclub Race will be Postponed, most likely occurring in March. There is an expectation that the Blandford Race will be cancelled. We do not have a clear understanding of the issues but Blandford was scheduled to hold a number of races this year and has been unable to open due to lift issues. this has caused a massive scheduling problem.

Tristate U16’s Weekend Update!

Hey U16’s

You must know by now that we’ve lost Lower Alley Cat and Race Slope to the rains today. We will train GS on Catamount tomorrow in preparation for Berkshire East on Sunday.

Ski Patrol and operators will need the early morning to make sure that on and off ramps to the ski lifts are safe and have snow on them. Plan on being in the Taconic Lodge tomorrow by 9am and on snow by 9:30am. But we will assess the snow in the AM!

Berkshire East so far is still on for Sunday, 1/14.

Make sure to bring your SL gear for MLK Monday! Training plans TBA.

Enjoy the extra hour of sleep,

Coach Pat

Tristate U16 Training Plans & Berkshire East GS on Sunday!

Hey U16’s!

Saturday, 1/13 – GS training on Lower Alley Cat

Please bring your GS skis/poles/back protector (No chin guard!) and meet Coach Pat in the Taconic Lodge @ 8:25am. We will train with the U19’s on Lower Alley Cat from 10ish – 12:45ish pm. Please be patient with training times as the weather and status of on/off ramps for lifts will be questionable after the big rain tomorrow. If there’s time after lunch we will free ski varied terrain (SkillsQuest requirement) as a team for the afternoon.

Parent volunteers!!! We can really use your help again with setting up B-netting around 9am (conditions permitting) again! Please meet at the Pump House at the top of Lower Alley Cat. Also, the mountain asks that you defer all fencing decisions to coaches and staff as they have watched the netting training video and are experienced at placing them in the correct spots. Then at 12:30pm (or later) we can really use your help with breaking down the course and taking down the B-netting. Last time everything was down in a record 10 minutes!!!

Sunday, 1/14 – Berkshire East GS
Race Registration
Registration is online at Adminskiracing. Online registration opened up again after the postponement of the race and ends tomorrow at 12 noon, Friday, January 12th!!! If you miss it, you will NOT be able to register on race day!!!

Race Day
Registration at the Beast starts at 7:30am on the 2nd floor of the lodge. Course inspection begins around 8:30am and the race begins at the end of inspection (between 9:15 & 9:30). Make sure to get there early so your racer can get a proper inspection of the course. They are responsible for making their way to the start BEFORE their bib # is called. If a racer misses their start, they will automatically be placed at the end of the run. The order of this race is as follows: Seeding will be based upon current USSA points by discipline. Random Seed Draw for the 15 athletes with the lowest points. 990s will be randomly seeded after racers with points. Second run start order will be flip 30 format based upon first run finish time. DSQ/DNF will be random draw after seeded racers. At the end of the 1st run, the course is reset and then opened for inspection. The 2nd run usually begins about an hour after the last racer finishes from the 1st run.

Saturday, 1/15 – SL training

TBA

Thanks again for your unwavering support!

Tristate U16’s No On-snow Training Sat! SL Training on Sunday!

Hey U16’s!

After careful consideration, I’ve decided to cancel on-snow training this coming Saturday. Instead we will offer video analysis of racers from Marius Stanescu, Coach Adam and myself in the Taconic Lodge at 12:30pm for about an hour. If there are any good wipeouts, we’ll show ’em! Maybe even in slo-mo!

If you would like to brave the cold and get some SL training in anyway, the U19’s will have a course set on Catamount and the U12/14’s will have a course set on Race Slope. Please be careful and dress warmly as the low will be -4 degrees and the high will be 3 degrees.

On Sunday we will train SL on Catamount keeping in mind our Mt. Southington SL race on 1/20. So please bring your tuned SL skis & poles, chin & shin guards. Please meet Coach Carl at the Quad at 8:25am sharp!

It is likely that the Beast GS is postponed to Sunday, January 14th. However I will confirm that with you when I officially hear from Ben Sullivan, the new race director at Beast.

See you on Saturday!

Coach Pat
